Our New Office in Santa Ynez

We recently opened a new office in Santa Ynez, CA, northwest of Santa Barbara. Generally bordered by the Santa Ynez Mountains to the south, the San Rafael Mountains to the north, and the Santa Rita hills to the west. Santa Ynez is noted for its world-class wineries,  equestrian facilities of all types, cattle ranches and farming, and tourism.

I’ve been familiar with the Santa Ynez Valley since college, often traveling out for wine tasting trips and weekend stays when a dear friend moved to  Santa Barbara. Later, once my ‘adopted Mom’ from La Canada moved to Arroyo Grande in the 1990’s, I would frequently travel through on my way to  visit her, and very soon fell in love with the rolling horse ranches (then mostly Arabians), the quality of light, the bucolic lifestyle, and the charming small towns that defined The Valley.

When we began working on Adamson Ranch (on Alamo Pintado in Santa Ynez) in late 2021, and my stays were more frequent and extended, I soon realized this was a place I wanted to call home; and in short order everything seemed to fall into place. We still have the South Pasadena office, and I maintain a residence close by, albeit now for (usually) I’m in LA two days a week; the remining five I’m in The Valley.

Our office is behind Pony Espresso on Sagunto Street, and we share the building with Santa Ynez General and Wylde West Wreckerds (a cool vinyl record store).

As part of Sketchbook, I’ll try to relay some of the stories that unfolded with the decision to move and relocate here, and share some of the adventures I’ve been afforded as part of the decision to move here.
